Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting accurate and timely financial reporting. This position is responsible for core accounting functions including month-end close, account reconciliations, cash accounting, and tax remittance. The Senior Accountant will work closely with both the general ledger and tax functions, supporting audits, bank examinations, and contributing to continuous improvement of accounting processes.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post month-end journal entries and accruals.
  • Perform expense allocations in accordance with internal policies.
  • Record cash transactions and intercompany transfers in the cash sub-ledger.
  • Reconcile corporate bank accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of variances.
  • Track and amortize prepaid expenses.
  • Calculate and record commercial insurance accruals.
  • Prepare and submit sales tax filings for multiple states and jurisdictions.
  • Prepare and remit state and local income taxes in accordance with applicable deadlines.
  • Coordinate filing and payment of required annual reports across states.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and gather supporting documentation for the annual financial audit.
  • Support the preparation and document retrieval process for the annual bank exam.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement within the general accounting function.

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Understanding of U.S. GAAP preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with general ledger systems; experience with Sage Intacct a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; intermediate in Word and Outlook.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
